In line with the philosophy to reduce waste of energy and use recycable materials, Scandinavian Homes Ltd. is offering super insulated large steel buildings by Llentab, our Swedish network partner specialised on lightweight steel construction.
|
|
| These large buildings are designed to extremely high insulation standards and to use100% recyclable material.
Llentabs light-weight steel buildings are sturdy for +100 years and the unique Llentab method resembles a gigantic Meccano economizing on the usage of material. The combination of less material usage and practically no waste makes this method ideal for true sustainable construction. |
Structure
Llentab buildings are made of recyclable galvanized steel.
The steel framing is energy efficiently made into continuous rolled profiles. It is then cut and punched to
perfect fit before all is bolted together on site. The spans available reach up to 65m. For larger spans, up to 100m, we manufacture portal frames. A minimum amount of steel is used and very large structures can be made with large spans.
The building procedure is quick, using hydraulic jacks to lift the entire structure as it is completed. This means that no crane is required and very little energy used.
|

Steel can be recycled 100% infinitely without any loss in quality |
Wall insulation and materials
The wall insulation can be any type of semi-firm insulation such as rockwool, hemp, sheepwool, fibreglass, etc.. For attic insulation we recommend blown cellulose insulation made from recycled paper.
The windbreaker outside of the insulation is normally paper in Llentabs construction but in windy Ireland, we always add a spun breather-membrane to reduce the air-movements into the insulation.

Interior finishes
Inside we use an ageproof vapour barrier, which is very simple but highly effective.
Internal steel sheeting is usually used but can be changed according to the usage. In the ceiling perforated steel sheets can give excellent sound dampening but
anything can be used such as plywood, plaster boards or wood panelling. An issue could be the fire regulations that may require large amounts of poisonous flame retardants on such surfaces.
Exterior finishes
External cladding is normally made up of steel sheets, but timber cladding is an option as well. Also locally grown larch or scotspine can replace
the steel-sheeting where fire authorities and budget allows this. We supply a breathable linseedoil distemper waterbased paint that is very attractive for external wood.
Foundations
If the concrete raft foundation is thoughtfully designed the amount of steel and concrete can be minimized too. |
